The Canadian Rights Reporter is a guide to significant decisions affecting Charter jurisprudence. It has been a trusted source for legal professionals since its founding in 1982—the year the Charter came into force—by acclaimed human rights lawyer Clayton Ruby.

Equally useful to lawyers, judges, and students, the publication captures up-to-date, relevant case law from all Court levels in every Canadian province.

Each volume (“issue”) is approximately 380 pages in total, including 370 formatted pages of Court decisions, plus front matter and an index. The publication publishes bi-monthly.

Captions, or catch-phrases, are provided for each decision and serve two functions. One, they provide the reader with a concise summation of the issues in the case. Two, they are used to construct an easy-to-read subject matter index in each volume, and ultimately to form an annual consolidated index, the Canadian Rights Reporter Cumulative Index. This Index is revised annually to reflect developments in Canacase law.
