Susan Boulter, B.A., was the Chief Operating Officer of Manitoba’s Vital Statistics Agency and a member of the Vital Statistic Council for Canada Executive for seven years and Co-Chair from 2012 until her retirement. In her 35-year career with the Province of Manitoba, she also served as the Deputy Director of the Companies Office, Director of Driver and Vehicle Licensing and Chief Operating Officer of Materials Distribution Agency. She has served on many boards, including Cancercare Manitoba. She currently serves on the board and committees of the Law Society of Manitoba, is a member of the Vulnerable Persons Panel, and chairs the Reh-Fit Foundation of Manitoba.

David Stevens, B.A., L.L.B., is a partner at Aird & Berlis LLP in Toronto, where he practises in the area of regulatory and commercial litigation. David advises gas and electric utilities, and other participants in Ontario’s electricity market, on a wide range of regulatory and commercial issues. David assists clients with ratemaking applications, policy consultations, compliance issues, licensing, Measurement Canada issues and regulatory strategy. David is a frequent contributor to and lead editor of energyinsider.ca, which features commentary, analysis and news about legal and regulatory developments in Canada’s energy sector, with particular focus on regulated entities in Ontario.

Nada Khirdaji, B.A. (Hons.), M.A., LL.B., is a legal researcher and writer for LexisNexis Canada. She co-authored the Halsbury’s Laws of Canada – Military title, and has served as contributing editor for numerous other Halsbury’s titles, including Immigration and Citizenship, Income Tax (International), Mortgages and Motor Vehicles. Prior to joining LexisNexis, Nada was a Partner in the Legal Research Group at Osler. In her 12 years at Osler, she wrote factums, opinions, and research memos and advised in a wide range of practice areas, including statutory interpretation, contracts, insolvency, regulatory compliance, litigation strategy, and administrative matters, among many others, in numerous jurisdictions.

Gavin Hole, B.Eng, J.D., is a legal researcher and writer for LexisNexis Canada. He co-authored the Halsbury's Expropriation title, and has served as a contributing editor for numerous other Halsbury's titles, including Insurance, Mortgages and Motor Vehicles. Gavin received his law degree from the University of Toronto, after obtaining a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering from McGill University. He practiced as an associate for a large Toronto law firm in their Securities and Capital Markets Group and Labour and Employment Group, and subsequently worked as an associate for a small firm in southwestern Ontario. Before attending law school, he worked for several years as an engineer in the automotive industry.

Katie Sykes, B.A., J.D., LL.M., LL.M., Ph.D., is a Professor at Thompson Rivers University. Her main research area is animal law. She also writes and researches on innovation in law and the future of the legal profession. Professor Sykes obtained a J.D. from the University of Toronto Faculty of Law in 2002, graduating as the gold medalist. She was a law clerk to Hon. Justice Louis LeBel of the Supreme Court of Canada in 2002-2003, and then attended Harvard Law School as a Frank Knox Scholar, graduating with an LL.M. in 2004. She also holds an LL.M. and a Ph.D. from the Schulich School of Law at Dalhousie. Her Ph.D. research focused on the relationship between international trade law and global animal law. She is a member of the Advisory Board of Animal Justice Canada.
