Lal Balkaran

Lal Balkaran, MBA, FCMA, FCIS, CGA, CIA, is a Certified General Accountant, Certified Internal Auditor, Fellow of the UK Chartered Institute of Management Accountants, Fellow of the Canadian Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators, and a MBA from Heriot-Watt University. He is a Senior Manager in the Internal Audit Practice of KPMG's Advisory in Toronto and is perceived as a leading member of the internal audit profession. He has more than twenty five years of internal auditing experience obtained in a wide range of industries both in the private and public sectors. He has been published widely across the globe and has done several internal audit seminars in North America and the Caribbean. Mr. Balkaran has been a member of the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) for almost 20 years and is a Past President of the IIA-Toronto. He sits on the Board of Research and Education Advisors of IIA Global, Internal Auditor Editorial Advisory Board, the IIA-Toronto Board, and the Internal Audit Advisory Committee of the Government of Canada. He was recently made an Honourary Member of IIA-Toronto and estabished the IIA-Guyana.

He has written six reference books on international accounting and business certification programs and four on his native Guyana. A new book titled Directory of Global Professional Accounting and Business Certifications profiling almost 1000 bodies worldwide that grant in excess of 2,000 designations and designatory letters is soon to be published by Wiley.
