Norm Keith, J.D., LL.B., CRSP, & Goldie Bassi, B.A., LL.B., LL.M. / Jeffery Wilson, B.A., LL.B.

Workplace Health and Safety

Norm Keith, J.D., LL.B., CRSP, is a Partner at Gowlings LLP and leads the national practice group specializing in Occupational Health and Safety, and Workers' Compensation law. He has successfully defended over 1,000 charges under the Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act and related statutes and regulations. He represents employers at administrative tribunals, environmental prosecutions and Coroner's Inquests. Mr. Keith has assisted clients in a wide range of industries in advising on workplace risk management and emergency preparedness planning. He is a frequent speaker at national and international OHS and risk management conferences and seminars. He is the Author of numerous texts on the subject of Occupational Health and Safety Law. Lexpert® has rated Mr. Keith as the most frequently referred lawyer in Ontario for Occupational Health and Safety law matters. He is also recognized in The Best Lawyers in Canada as a leader in his field. Mr. Keith was called to the Ontario Bar in 1983 and was the first practicing lawyer in Canada to receive his Canadian Registered Safety Professional designation in 1998.

Goldie Bassi, B.A., LL.B., LL.M., is an Associate Lawyer at Gowlings LLP, where she practices Employment, Occupational Health and Safety, and Worker's Compensation law. Ms. Bassi represents employers and other workplace stakeholders in defending regulatory charges. She also has significant experience in representing employers at Coroner's Inquests and administrative hearings. In addition to providing legal representation, Ms. Bassi advises clients on how to proactively meet their regulatory obligations and provides advice on identifying any gaps in their occupational health and safety management systems. She speaks regularly on a wide range of topics, including due diligence, risk management, workplace harassment and violence, and the Bill C-45 amendments to the Criminal Code. Ms. Bassi has published numerous articles and texts on occupational health and safety law and on the regulatory policy implications of emerging technologies. Ms. Bassi was called to the Ontario Bar in 2004.

Youth Justice

Jeffrey Wilson, B.A., LL.B.,has practised law for thirty years, and is a certified Law Society of Upper Canada "Specialist in Family Law". Mr. Wilson, who graduated from Osgoode Hall Law School and was called to the Bar in 1978, is the Senior Partner at Wilson Christen LLP. Jeffery Wilson is an accredited family law Arbitrator, and Author of the Halsbury's^® Laws of Canada Infants and Children, Wilson On Children and the Law, as well as Editor of the Ontario Family Law Reporter. Mr. Wilson has lectured in Canada and abroad, largely in relation to his extensive involvement with private non-governmental organizations. He is a founding member and Director to the Toronto-based clinic Justice for Children and Youth, and creator of The Law and Youth: Taking Ownership of Knowledge for Powerworkshop series. He is a recipient of the prestigious Advocates' Society Award of Justice for his advocacy and was selected by the National Post as among Canada's best family law lawyers. Mr. Wilson is currently teaching as Adjunct Professor at the Faculty of Law at the University of Toronto.
