    Jacqueline Swaisland & Lorne Waldman, LL.B, LL.M


    Jacqueline Swaisland is an associate at Waldman and Associates in Toronto and a part-time professor at the University of Ottawa, where she co-teaches a course on immigration and refugee law. In 2008 she was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship to pursue graduate work at Harvard University, where she received an LL.M. in International Human Rights and Comparative Constitutional Law. Ms. Swaisland has acted as counsel in cases at all levels of court, including three times as co-counsel before the Supreme Court of Canada on immigration-related matters. A large number of Ms. Swaisland’s cases have involved the law of inadmissible persons.

    Lorne Waldman, of Waldman & Associates, has practised immigration and refugee law exclusively since 1979 and appears before the C.R.D.D., the Federal Court and the Supreme Court of Canada. Mr. Waldman has appeared before the Senate and the House of Commons as a witness on immigration issues and is a frequent speaker at C.B.A. and L.S.U.C. seminars. He is also author of Butterworths® Canadian Immigration & Refugee Law Practice and The Definition of Convention Refugee.
